5 Early Signs of Erectile Dysfunction

As men age, it's normal to begin to worry if they will start to experience any problems with erections. In the case of erectile dysfunction, there are some signs that it could be developing before problems actually start in the bedroom. Here are a few signs it may be time to see Dr. Foster about potential erectile dysfunction problems:

1. You don't think about sex as much as you used to.

Since one of the causes of erectile dysfunction is lower testosterone, it makes sense that it would affect not only the quality of sex, but also how often you think about it. Not being able to get in the mood makes it even more challenging to have a productive erection.

2. You have trouble sleeping.

Sleep problems can actually cause erectile dysfunction to some degree. Research shows that close to 70 o percentf men with sleep apnea also suffer from erectile dysfunction. This is because without enough sleep, testosterone levels begin to fall. Not only does this kill your libido, and in turn your erection, but it can also make you stressed and anxious.

3. You don't wake up with an erection anymore.

Waking up with an erection is something men experience most of their lives. It actually is a sign of good health as it means that the blood vessels pumping blood to the penis are working correctly. If you start waking up without an erection more often than usual, it might be a sign that erectile dysfunction is an impending problem.

4. You experience changes to your erection.

Not all men go from having great erections to no erections. Some men may find themselves simply not getting as hard as before or not being able to maintain their erections long enough to reach their peak. There's no right or wrong level of hardness for an erection, but if it starts changing from what you normally experience, it might be time to see Dr. Foster.

5. You have high cholesterol or blood pressure.

High blood pressure and high cholesterol both do damage to the blood vessels, making it harder for them to expand and get blood flowing to all the areas they need to, such as your penis. This can make getting an erection more difficult.

If you are suffering from any of these early signs or are having trouble in the bedroom, Dr. Foster can help. Call 760-670-3621 to schedule your phone or in-office consultation today.
